The Seed Almanac
Local seed library
Seed library site that lists sowing month, germination days and spacing for 53 varieties in newspaper layout
How it was made
Seed information is all numeric: sowing month, germination days, spacing and seed-saving difficulty.
Reads like a newspaper or almanac, with a 5-column layout, a 150px masthead and thick-thin double rules.
All varieties are real and only self-pollinating ones were chosen. Figures are based on a British-style temperate climate.
Uncertain values are given as ranges. Engraving-style plant illustrations replace photos.
Choosing a month in the calendar fills in the varieties to sow that month, one by one. Hovering over a seed packet opens its flap.
All 9,019 visible characters across 59 pages were measured; the lowest contrast is 5.90:1.
